The Prime Minister’s Ramadan Relief Package 2024, worth Rs 7.5 billion, will be launched today through the Utility Stores Corporation (USC).

The initiative offers discounted prices on 19 essential food items during the holy month, including flour, ghee, edible oil, sugar, dal, gram, white gram, gram, dates, rice, tea, spices, milk and beverages. . USC spokesperson.

He said that USC will ensure availability of sufficient stock of all commodities during Ramadan to meet public demand. He said only those registered with Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) under the PMT-60 category instead of PMT-40, which includes about 200 million low-income families, are eligible for the targeted subsidy.

BISP beneficiaries get subsidized prices: Rs 648 for a 10-kg bag of flour, Rs 365 for ghee, and Rs 109 per kg for sugar, a USC spokesperson said.

Additionally, there will be a subsidy of Rs 25 per liter on edible oil for them.

Further discounts are applicable on other commodities: Rs 25 per kg for pulses and white gram, Rs 50 per kg for besan and dates, Rs 25 per kg for certain varieties of rice, Rs 100 for 800 grams of tea, And 30 rupees per liter for packaged milk, he said.

He said that spices and drinks will also be available at low cost. BISP families will get specified quantities of certain commodities, including 20 kg of flour, 5 kg of sugar and ghee, 3 kg of rice, pulses and cooking oil, while there is no restriction on the purchase of other commodities.

The spokesperson said that eligible persons who are not registered with BISP can contact their regional office or designated utility stores to get the package.

Apart from BISP, USC offers special discounts on over 1,000 items for all customers, lists are displayed in stores.

He said that all outlets of USC will be open for public service throughout Ramadan.

He said that a monitoring cell at the USC headquarters would address public concerns. Additionally, vigilance teams across Pakistan will ensure transparency.
